Summer homes are retreats: passive promoters of lounging, sunbathing, and crime-novel perusing. This newly rebuilt summer home on Pine Lake nearly fits that bill. With a nod to the past, this picturesque home is filled with many wood features, but now they’re structurally sound—and a touch more distinctive.
The charcoal-gray home (an exterior that mirrors its aquatic neighbor in the early mornings) sits at the end of a serenely wooded drive atop a small hill, at the bottom of which lies a body of water that could have been poured from a Nancy Drew novel. With a painted metal roof that gently slopes above the main entrance, cedar-shingled siding and a clean, white trim, the exterior screams Nantucket chic. But the interior, decorated by the homeowners and Karen Kempf Interiors, mixes styles that result in something entirely fresh.
